VENUS

Symbol: ♀

Cycle: around 1 year

Domicile: Taurus, Libra

Exaltation: Pisces

Exile: Aries, Scorpio

Fall: Virgo

The second planet from the Sun, because of the similarity in size, structure and gravity, Venus is called “Earth’s sister”. It was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty and is the only planet named after a female mythological deity.

In terms of influence, it is the opposite of Mars, so as Mars represents the urge for action, Venus represents the need for relaxation, rest, passive enjoyment. While Mars initiate and act, Venus adapts and cooperate. That Venus has nothing to do with action, initiative and desire can be easily concluded from the fact that the only element in which this planet does not have positive dignity is precisely the dynamic fire element.

One of the reasons that it is exalted in the sign of Pisces is that this sign represents the need for sleep, which is an activity during which the body is in a state of complete relaxation, passivity and inactivity.

Contrary to Mars, which represent an individual that wants to fight and prove himself by his own strength, Venus represents the need for cooperation, teamwork and the desire to establish balance and harmony with others.

As Mars represents muscles and all that is straight and sharp, Venus represents fat and all that is rounded and circular in shape.

As the planet of love, Venus creates the need for affection, relationships, creating connections, for harmonizing opposites, which is achieved by adapting to others, so it represents qualities such as tact, politeness, kindness, compromise.

Strong dignities that Venus have in Taurus, Libra and Pisces represents three basic types of love. In Taurus, a fixed sign in which energy is directed inward, it represents self-love, in Libra, a cardinal sign in which energy is directed outward, it represents love of others and in mutable Pisces it represents universal, devotional, unconditional love. In other signs it represents various other types of love that are in the nature of those signs, so Venus in Aries or Scorpio express passionate, lustful love, in Cancer, motherly, caring love, in Leo, fatherly love, but also love of power, in Aquarius, free, friendly love etc.

As the planet of beauty, Venus represents the principle of symmetry and proportionality on which what we consider beautiful is based. Under its influence, the need to create beauty arises, that is, the need for embellishment, adornment, design, for expression through art.

By its position in the sign and house and the aspects it makes with other planets, Venus shows us what our tastes are, what we find attractive and beautiful, what we enjoy and what gives us pleasure. Furthermore, it shows to what extent we are able to cooperate, share and make compromises. Also, it shows how we experience and express love, what and who causes love in us, what types of personalities attract us, as well as how we behave in love relationships.
