As the central body of our planetary system and as the obvious source of energy, heat and light, the influence of the Sun is of central importance in Astrology because the very division of the zodiac is based on its movement.

As the will and light of this world, on an individual level it symbolizes the will to live, but also the will to power. As the primary source of light, it symbolizes the light in all of us that manifests itself as consciousness, more precisely self-consciousness or self-awareness.

As such, the Sun represents our ego, sense of self-worth, level of self-confidence and self-respect, pride, honor, dignity. It shows the extent to which we are able to establish authority and project power.

In addition to representing our own individuality, the Sun also represents who we identify with, in whom and in what we see ourselves, whose and what qualities we want to have.

As all heavenly bodies in its system are forced to revolve around it, the Sun creates in man the need to be of importance, to be visible, influential and significant, to rule, dominate and subject others to its will. Therefore, it symbolizes hierarchy, dominance, leadership, authority, status.

As the essence and foundation of individuality, the Sun symbolizes how a person perceives himself, what attitude he has towards himself, what he considers his greatest qualities, what he is proud of, in what way and in what area he wants to excel, to be visible, to shine, to be a “star”.

Sun also represents our creative potential, an ability and urge to express in artistic form something highly individual, personal, unique, idiosyncratic, authentic.

Since it is itself the principle of organization, the basic function of the Sun is to organize and harmonize the needs and demands of all other planets so that they serve the maintenance of life and the well-being of the person.

Figuratively, the Sun represents the command center in all of us where decisions are formed and made, so by its position in the sign and house and the aspects it forms with the planets, it describes how and based on what motives we make decisions, especially important life decisions.

Therefore, the Sun, as the principle of integration, primarily represents the extent to which we are able to organize our various needs so that we live a fulfilling, dignified life.

Position of Sun in sign, house and aspects it forms with other planets shows what we live for and what makes us alive, the level of our vitality, self-respect, confidence and self-esteem, to what extent, in what way and in which area we are able to establish authority, what excites our ego, what makes us feel powerful, what we are proud of, who and what we respect and admire, how much and by whom we are respected and admired. The Sun also represents our father, how we perceive him, what kind of relationship we have with him, what is his authority over us, as well as how we experience and what attitude we have towards authorities in general and how we behave and treat others when we have authority.
