ELECTRIC GUITAR: Inventors who changed music

A musical instrument that marked the 20th century is, by definition, a “stringed musical instrument that runs on electricity and whose sound is obtained by twitching a steel wire in an electromagnetic field, after which vibrations are converted into a change in electrical voltage by a converter. One or more electromagnetic pickups convert the vibrations of steel wires into electrical signals that can be amplified and processed”.

The idea for this instrument originated around 1920, when opportunities were sought to make the acoustic guitar louder. The then commercial and jazz orchestras, as well as recording studios, required instrument manufacturers to make louder and stronger guitars. This is most practically achieved by placing electromagnetic converters on the body of the guitar, which created a new type of instrument – the electric guitar.

Given the biographical data of the inventors of this instrument, as well as the first and most famous manufacturers of electric guitars, it is possible to check whether their horoscopes contain certain positions of the planets in the signs and aspects that describe such an instrument.

According to the known and proven symbolic meanings of the planets in astrology, music and means, ie, the instruments by which it is expressed, symbolize the planet Venus and signs in which Venus is in strong dignity, first Libra, as an air sign, and then Taurus and Pisces.

Electricity, as well as amplification of sound, volume, is symbolized by the sign of Aquarius and its ruler, Uranus.

Therefore, the creators and first manufacturers of the electric guitar should have some of the following positions and aspects in their horoscopes: Venus in the sign or degree of Aquarius, as well as Venus in the aspect with Uranus. The position of Uranus in the sign is not so important given the slow motion of this planet.

As mentioned, during the 1920s, opportunities were sought to make the guitar, which until then had been used mainly as an accompanying instrument in orchestras, louder. Around 1930, it was concluded that this could only be achieved with electrical amplification. Hawaiian guitarist and innovator George Beauchamp, together with electronic engineer Adolph Rickenbacker, made a sound recorder that received vibrations directly from the guitar strings. When he put one such sound recorder on a Hawaiian “lapsteel” guitar, the basic principle of electric guitars was born, and thus the first guitar of its kind. A patent for this guitar, called a “frying pan”, was sent to Washington in 1932 for certification, which was not obtained until 1937.

George Beauchamp (18.3.1899. 16:20 Coleman County, Texas) was born at a time when the Sun, as the ruler of the ASC at 26° of Leo, was at 28° of Pisces in the 8th house. The Sun is placed not only in the sign of the exaltation of Venus, but also on the very degree of its exaltation, a hint that the goal of his life (Sun) will be to create something that will carry the essence of Venus. Venus itself is placed on 14° of Aquarius in the 6th house as the ruler of MC on the 23° of Taurus. Venus forms aspects with several planets, exact sextile with Mercury in Aries, trine with Pluto in Gemini, square with Jupiter in Scorpio and, which is most importantly, sextile with Uranus in Sagittarius. So, he is known (10th house) as someone who invented (the top of the 10th house on the degree of Aquarius and its ruler in Aquarius) and practically constructed (6th house) an electric (Aquarius) musical instrument (Venus). Venus at 14° (Taurus) explains another interesting piece of information – he constructed a guitar in his house on a kitchen table (Taurus). He died in 1941 of a heart attack while diving near Los Angeles, which is the information on the basis of which his horoscope was rectified, because such a death is accurately shown by the position of the Sun (heart) in the 8th house (death) in the sign of Pisces (fishing, diving).

Adolph Rickenbacker, co-founder of the “Rickenbacker” company that first started producing electric guitars, was born on April 1, 1886. 12:41 PM in the Swiss city of Basel. He emigrated to America in 1891 together with his relatives after the death of his parents, which shows the ASC at 21° (Sagittarius-abroad) of Cancer (America) and the ruler of the ASC, the Moon in the 9th house (abroad) in Pisces (far, overseas). The Sun is placed at 11° of Aries and is in opposition to Uranus at 5° of Libra, which is expected for the first manufacturer (Aries) of something that runs on electricity (Aquarius degree, Uranus). The Sun’s dispositor, Mars, is at 7° of Virgo, which again describes the manufacture (Mars, Virgo) of something used by artists, musicians (Libra degree). Like in Beauchamp`s chart, Mercury is placed in the sign of Aries, and Venus in the sign of Aquarius at 29°, without applying aspects, but in mutual reception with Uranus in Libra. So, in both horoscopes, Venus is in the sign of Aquarius and in connection with Uranus, in the first case through aspect, in the second through reception.

After the invention of the electric guitar, numerous innovators focused on the development and improvement of the instrument in terms of functionality, design and sound quality. Two men who have contributed the most in this field and whose guitar models are still most widely used by musicians today are Les Paul and Leo Fender, who, along with Seth Lover, the creator of the “humbucker” device, and Jim Marshall a manufacturer of well-known amplifiers, is considered “the four ancestors of the equipment used in rock music”.

Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915. 02.00 AM Waukesha, Wisconsin), better known by the pseudonym Les Paul, was an American guitarist and innovator credited with numerous improvements in electrical instruments and music recording techniques. In 1941, he constructed the first so-called “solidbody” guitar. that is, a single-body guitar, called “The Log” (stump), by cutting an acoustic guitar in the middle and inserting an electromagnetic converter there. His name is on one of the most popular guitar models of the company “Gibson”, inspired by his “The Log” guitar, the model “Gibson Les Paul”.

At the time of his birth the Sun was at 17° of Gemini and the ASC at 2° of Taurus. Venus, the dispositor of the ASC, was in strong dignity in it`s domicile, at 21° of Taurus, and formed a square towards Uranus, also in domicile at 15° of Aquarius, as well as sextile towards strong Jupiter at 26° of Pisces. The combination of these three planets describes the experimentation and introduction of innovations (Uranus), as well as the improvement, advancement (Jupiter) of this type of musical instrument (Venus). Under the influence of Jupiter, the model of the instrument that bears his name is in the widest (Jupiter) use by the most important guitarists, and thus, one of the biggest brands (Jupiter) among electric guitars.

In addition to Gibson, one of the most well-known manufacturers of electric guitars is Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, or Fender for short, founded by Leo Fender (August 10, 1909. 15:17 Anaheim, California). Electric and bass guitars, as well as amplifiers designed by Fender, are still relevant and widely used today. The “Fender Telecaster” he made in 1950 is the first electric guitar to go into mass production, while the “Fender Stratocaster” is one of the most popular guitar models in general. The 1951 Fender Precision Bass set the standard for all future bass guitars, while the Fender Bassman amp laid the foundation for future amp manufacturers such as Marshall and Mesa Boogie.

In Leo Fender’s chart, the Sun is at 17° of Leo, and ASC at 23° of Sagittarius. Uranus, placed in the 1st house on 17° of Capricorn, makes a trine towards the dispositors of ASC and MC, Venus on 15°of Virgo and Jupiter on the 16° of the same sign in the 9th house. The whole configuration describes the world famous (9th house, Jupiter ) manufacturer (Virgo) of electric (Uranus) guitar (Venus). It is interesting that in the horoscopes of two men whose names are on the most popular models of electric guitars, Venus forms aspects with Uranus and Jupiter.

Leo Fender’s chart was rectified on the basis of the following biographical data. From an early age he was interested in electronics (Uranus in the 1st house). He studied accounting (9th house in Virgo) and for a time worked as an accountant (Virgo) in a company. After that, he held a radio repair shop for a while, which describes the 6th house (job, shop) in Gemini (radio), which is the job his uncle also did (6th house). He suffered from Parkinson’s disease that is, diseases of the central nervous system (6th house in Gemini) from which he died (ruler of the 6th house, Mercury in the 8th house, ruler of the 8th house, Moon in Gemini in the 6th house).

Seth Lover (1.1.1910 Kalamazoo, Michigan) is best known for the invention of the “humbucker” device, or “pickup” that eliminates, i.e., cancels noise, buzzing caused by alternating magnetic fields produced by transformers and power supply in electrical equipment operating on alternating current.

His most famous “humbucker” design is P.A.F which he designed while working for “Gibson” in 1955 and which has been applied to many Gibson guitar models, primarily Les Paul models, while the “Fender Wide Range” design is also used on three Fender Stratocaster model.

In his chart, the Sun on 10° of Capricorn makes an applying conjunction with Uranus on 20° of Capricorn and squares with Mars and Saturn in Aries, Jupiter in Libra and opposition with Neptune in Cancer, while the  position of Venus is striking since it is in Aquarius and on 23°, i.e. at the deegre of Aquarius. The time of birth is unknown, and rectification is difficult due to insufficiently available biographical data, but, considering that he is best known for the device used on the electric guitar, i.e. instrument which is perfectly described by this particular placement of Venus, this planet should have to be in the 10th house as the ruler of the ASC in Taurus, so the time of birth is probably around 13:30.

Jim Marshall (29.7.1923 11.00 AM London), also known as “The Father of Loud” is the founder of the company “Marshall Amplification” which produces the most famous electric guitar amplifiers. To this day, amplifiers of this company have a legendary status and are used by the most famous musicians in rock music. In fact, it is difficult to visit a concert of a rock band without the amplifiers of this brand on the stage. Interestingly, Jim Marshall began his career as a drummer and in a music shop he opened in 1960, he primarily sold drums and then guitars. The idea to produce amps came after many famous guitarists who visited his shop expressed a desire to play on specific amplifiers that would be stronger and louder. Thus, in 1962, the Marshall Amplification Company was born.

This man’s chart is striking and contains positions that accurately describe his life path. The Sun on 5° of Leo makes a conjunction with Mars, while Mercury and Neptune are in the same sign. The Sun and Mars make a sextile with Saturn in Libra and a square with Jupiter in Scorpio. Both the sign of Leo and the Sun symbolize the founder, father, creation, performance, stage. Mars, with which the Sun is in conjunction, shows that he will be among leaders in the production of something related to the symbolism of the Sun and Leo, while Jupiter and Saturn that he will thus achieve a wider and lasting influence. On the other hand, the rhythm and the drums, but also everything that works on electricity and which have a purpose of amplifying the sound, symbolizes the sign of Aquarius and Uranus, which is placed on 17° of Pisces and makes a trine with Venus, the ruler of ASC, on 23° of Cancer in the 10th house, while the dispositor of Venus, the Moon is at 23° of Aquarius in the 5th house (concert, scene, stage). His nickname is a combination of influences which on the one hand represents the stellium of the planets in Leo, the degrees of Leo and the 5th house, and on the other the influence of the sign of Aquarius, the degrees of that sign and Uranus, so he is the father (Leo, Sun, 5th house) of loud (Aquarius, Uranus). Or in other words, the most famous and highest quality (Sun, Leo) manufacturer (Mars) of musical (Venus) electronic devices that amplify sound (Aquarius, Uranus).

All in all, the positions and combinations of planets that describe an electric musical instrument such as an electric guitar (Venus in Aquarius, at the degree of that sign and the aspect with Uranus) are contained in all previously analyzed charts. In 3 charts Venus is in Aquarius, in 4 in aspect with Uranus and in 2 on the degree of Aquarius

So, Venus in Aquarius, at the deegre of Aquarius, in aspect or reception with Uranus = ELECTRIC GUITAR.
